Difference between Design and Development

Two of Utopia Net's services include Web Site Design and Development.  While closely interchangeable, and both essential to a site's performance, there are some subtle differences.

The basic design of a web site is the "look and feel" of the site.  It  is what a visitor sees when they come to a site.  It includes the background, graphics, logos, pictures, colors, menus and anything else that a customer can provides us to place on the site.  Once our graphics team has created a plan or idea for the look of your site, we will present the customer with three concepts for design, with three revisions to those concepts.  This is our own, unique 3 x 3 Process for Design.

To customize a site means to modify and enhance it to a customer's exact specifications.  Examples of these modifications would be creating a custom product inventory catalog, or a custom import/export utility for the site.  Whatever aspect of a site that a customer requests we will develop a system to meet that request.
